Rachol fort is situated to the northeast of Margao. The fort is surrounded by the pleasant beauty all around. It is known for its rich historical significance involving the battles of Vijayanagar and Bijapur. The fort is one of the most famous forts of Goa and presently in ruins with only the stone archways gateway leading the road to the seminary which is close to the fort. The fort is completely built out of laterite stones. The fort used to be guarded during the Poetuguese rule. One gets to see the serene views of the surroundings from the top of the fort. The fort has become one of the leading tourist spots of Goa.
