Carambolim Lake is located a few kms away from Old Goa. Carambolim is one of the famous places in Goa and it is a well known for birding site. It is created to make easy irrigation of the nearby fields of man made freshwater lake. Within walking distance from the Karmali Railway Station you can see the famous bird watching spots; one can view a lot of species of migratory birds. Carambolim Lake is a most important spot on the international birding map, and highly frequented by European tourists. Various species of foreign, migratory birds have been getting together to the Carambolim Lake for hundreds of years. It has a railway station which is the third significant station of the Konkan Railway in Goa.
